My upcoming podcast series is based on my book, Change Within, Change the World. In the book, I explore two sides of the coin, the external landscape and the internal processes linked to change.
When going somewhere, we use a map to plan the course of our destination. Essential to getting there is first knowing where we are starting before setting out. In studying history’s large repeating patterns or fractals, we learn not only where we are in the big picture but also how we got here. When the immediate landscape of events appears chaotic, it is helpful to see the big picture of where we are. As Dr. Elisabet Sahtouris says, if you don’t know where you’ve come from, it’s very difficult to see what the possibilities are for where you’re headed.
I am reminded of the quote from Alice in Wonderland where Alice asks the Cheshire Cat, Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
The Cheshire Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.
Alice: I don\’t much care where…
The Cheshire Cat: Then it doesn\’t much matter which way you go.
Alice quickly adds: …So long as I get somewhere!
The Cheshire Cat: Oh, you\’re sure to do that! If only you walk long enough.
After reviewing the external landscape in my book, I turn to the internal. With the many changes happening in our outer world, there are major changes happening in our inner world as well. And there is a clear bridge between the two, linked like the two sides of a coin. We need to understand and harness the inner so that we can intelligently, with wisdom, meet the outer world changes. In order to make changes that create a new and better world, we also need to be sure we aren’t just recreating the same-old, same-old. This can require changing within ourselves, re-examining our beliefs and our values.
On the surface some of this may appear self-evident. Yet, going deeper in conversations with my guests can bring out ideas that you may not have considered, which is why you probably listen to podcasts in the first place!
My podcasts will begin to air on October 8. You can subscribe to them at .https://podcast.changewithin.com.
